I found this article very interesting and educative at the same time. I'm writing a thesis on thermal recovery of bitumen and would appreciate any assistance in terms of data and other related information.

Hi I am a student currently studying at Kingston University, London doing an M.Sc in Environmental and Earth Resource Management. I am currently doing a dissertation on the cost benefits of using CO2 for enhanced oil recovery. I saw your contact while going through your web site and was hoping to get some information that will be beneficial to my research or any other contacts that may be helpful. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards Felix Iyoha

Felix There is a lot on CO2 EOR here in IOR Views http://ior.rml.co.uk/ and on the Maximising Recovery Programme main website at http://www.og-mrp.com/. Also you might like to look up all the presentations at the recent (10 February 2005) Westminster Forum on this very subject which I attended. They can be found at http://www.westminsterenergy.org/events_archive/ There is an article called “Potential for Enhanced Oil Recovery from CO2 Injection into UKCS Oil Fields” at http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/template.cfm?name=geoevents_abstracts&eventId=PG20&abstractId=cwcc_ab28&abstractType=ext which might also be helpful. I made a presentation "CO2 EOR in the North Sea - Current Status" at oil&gasIQ, IOR Asia 2005, 29-30 March 2005. I can supply this on request. Regards David Hughes

I am a PhD student at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK. My project is on the transport and reinjection of CO2 to enhance oil recovery (EOR) offshore. I am a research associate at the University and my project is sponsored by the UKCCSC (United Kingdom Carbon Capture and Storage consortium) whose objectives are to reduce greenhouse gasses by the year 2030. It is part of the climate change research that is currently being carried out. More information can be found at this link http://www.geos.ed.ac.uk/ccs. The objective of my project is to asses the technical requirements and likely cost for onshore and offshore CO2 transport, to devise a possible CO2 transport system and also examine the viability of existing infrastructure and the regulations involved. I would like to know more updates about this CENS project as it will be part of my thesis. I believe DTI will be carrying out some source and sink exercises. I was wondering if I could potentially get involved in this exercise or any other upcoming projects, perhaps as an intern. Thanks and Regards, Patricia
