The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) is a not for profit organisation, owned by 15 oil and gas operating companies. It is the vehicle through which these companies fund joint industry projects (JIPs) that address the technology needs of the UK upstream oil and gas industry.

In 2002, most ITF activity will be channelled through a thematic approach that has been developed over the past 12 months. For each theme, a group of specialists from ITF member companies identify their priority business needs and the underlying technology gaps. These are then used as the basis of a call for proposals to satisfy the needs.

During 2001 this approach was used to create major programmes having a total value of over £4.5 million. These addressed complex reservoirs, seismic reservoir characterisation, remote subsea power generation and facilities asset management.

Details of themes for 2002, and calls for proposals will be published on ITF's web site at www.oil-itf.com. Companies, research organisations and universities are all welcome to submit proposals to ITF. If you would like e-mail notification of calls as they are issued contact Duncan Anderson (d.anderson@oil-itf.com, Tel. 01224 853405) or fill out the request form on our web site, specifying whether you are interested in the subsurface, wells or facilitates areas.
