Future Events
3 - 7 Sep 2006, The New Paradigm --- Transferring Technologies and Field Experiences for Successful EOR Applications – ATW, Xi'an, China.
This SPE Applied Technology Workshop (ATW) will provide a focal point for sharing the latest EOR experiences and lessons learnt from various companies around the world, as well as innovative mechanisms of EOR methods currently available to the industry. This workshop aims to review new technologies and advancements in EOR methods (e.g. Chemical Flooding, Miscible Flooding, Thermal Recovery, MEOR, WAG, etc.) and exchange innovative ideas through case studies and problem solving sessions.
4 - 7 Sept. 2006, 10th European Conference on the Mathematics of Oil Recovery, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The high oil prices have revived the interest in 'enhanced' oil recovery techniques and other methods originating from more than 20 years ago but rarely brought to fruition. Many of these topics are now once again areas of active research. ECMOR has always been a forum for researchers and engineers involved in advanced reservoir modelling, both from industry and academia, and also this year it hopes to attract a diverse community with a broad range of ideas.
24 - 27 Sep 2006, Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, San Antonio, Texas USA
SPE's Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) is perhaps the most significant annual gathering of petroleum professionals anywhere in the world. Through the presentation of some 350 highly relevant and timely technical papers, ATCE delivers the technology that fuels today's upstream oil and gas industry. This year ATCE will include, among others, sessions on;
Recovery Mechanisms, Miscible Processes, Heavy Oil/Thermal, CO2 Sequestration I , Heavy Oil, PVT, and Fluid Properties, Unconventional Gas, CO2 Sequestration II
22 - 27 Oct 2006, The Heavy Oil Challenge: Recognition, Evaluation and Mobilisation – Forum, Cascais, Portugal.
As energy supplies continue to tighten there is increasing interest in heavy oil around the world. The challenges of heavy oil are only understood in a limited number of areas and in terms of the particular crudes and reservoirs. The purpose of this forum is to take what we know from established regions and consider the novel recovery processes that will be needed as heavy oil production expands around the world.
29 - 30 Nov 2006, Alternative Fluids for Improved Oil Recovery - ATW Historically, Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Natural gas has been used to maintain reservoir pressure and improve oil recovery. However, as demand increases and natural gas prices rise, alternative fluids must be identified for pressure maintenance and sweep activities. The goal is to free up high volumes of natural gas for sale, while maintaining oil recovery rates. These alternative fluids for improved oil recovery include nitrogen, carbon dioxide, flue gas and water. To better understand the impact of these alternative fluids, SPE will host an Applied Technology Workshop (ATW).
26 - 29 Nov 2006, Coalbed Methane – ATW, Beijing, China.
This workshop will explore the full life cycle of a Coalbed Methane (CBM) project from initial concept, through appraisal and pilot testing, and into production. A series of technical sessions will address the critical issues and decisions faced in developing a commercial CBM project.
