Issue 13, February 2007

25 - 28 Feb. 2007, IOR/EOR: Impact on Facilities of Brown and Green Fields – ATW, Marrakech, Morocco.

This workshop will focus on the impact of IOR/EOR processes on design, commissioning and operations of facilities for brown and green fields. The ATW will consist of nine sessions (2.5 days). Topics include: Fluid separations under different operating conditions such as high pressure and temperature, contaminated gas and steam processing, unconventional flow assurance in pipelines and water handling facilities. Underpinning these topics would be the implementation of the I-fields (Smart Fields or real time monitoring) that are currently changing how we operate surface facilities from wellheads to market. Within these sessions, breakout sessions are designed to ensure the participation of all attendees and to capture their knowledge and expertise.

13 Mar. 2007, Enhanced Oil Recovery – Every Last Drop, SPE Event, London, UK.

High oil prices have revived interest in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques and research.  EOR will help meet current and future demands but it requires technology, expertise and experience in order to succeed.  This one-day SPE seminar will draw on all three from academic and industrial professionals to present advancements in various EOR options (e.g. Miscible Flooding, Thermal Recovery, WAG, etc.).

22 - 24 Apr. 2007, IOR 2007, Cairo, Egypt.

The theme of the 14th European Symposium on Improved Oil Recovery to be held in Cairo is 'Timing of IOR to maximize production rates and ultimate recovery'. The technical program will include a range of IOR related topics varying from gas flooding to heavy oil and thermal recovery. Field case studies and emerging technologies will also be presented. There will be a dedicated panel discussion on issues such as demand-supply outlook, future IOR / EOR contribution in replacing reserves and complementing exploration, emerging regional opportunities for IOR / EOR and blockers to greater IOR / EOR contribution (technology, technical risks, commercial risks & terms, etc. In addition to the technical program sessions the symposium will also have an opening session by leaders in the area, a poster session and a social event to meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere.

15 - 16 May 2007, DEVEX 2007, Aberdeen, UK.

DEVEX 2007 is a joint AFES, SPE, PESGB and DTI conference on subsurface techniques for maximizing recovery. It incorporates the DTI IOR Seminar as well. A wide range of topics will be covered ranging from HP/HT fields and heavy oil development to gas renaissance and novel drilling and completion techniques.

22 May 2007, Panel Discussion on Enhanced Oil Recovery Techniques, London, UK.

This panel discussion on EOR techniques will be followed by a formal talk on sustainable operating strategy during tail-end production. The event provides a unique opportunity to discuss and share views of industry professionals about using EOR as an operating strategy near the end of the field life.

28 - 29 May 2007, Improved Oil Recovery Middle East, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Growing pressure on the Middle East Oil & Gas Industry to enhance production is increasingly bringing Improved Oil Recovery to the forefront of many company strategies. This event plans to present over 15 IOR case studies based on benefits experienced by operators from last year.

11 – 14 Jun. 2007, 69th EAGE Conference & Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2007, London, UK.

Under the theme “Securing the Future”, the conference focuses on the importance of increasing recovery from existing resources, discovering new energy resources and ensuring clean and affordable energy for the future. These topics will be addressed in a multidisciplinary technical programme with joint sessions integrating geosciences and engineering contributions in reservoir characterisation, modelling and monitoring, as well as separate sessions focusing on each discipline. The technical program also consists of a number of workshops including one on ‘Sub-surface Storage of CO2’.
