Welcome

We’re back! Welcome to Issue 13 of OG-MRP IOR Views. Let’s hope it’s not unlucky.

Thank you to the individual authors who have contributed articles.  We are always looking for new articles - the next issue is scheduled for around the middle of 2007.  If you have or are able to write an article that you think will be of interest to IOR Views readers please let us know (david.hughes@senergyltd.com or irfan.sami@senergyltd.com).  Instructions for authors can be found on the IOR Views home page.

New in This Issue

In this issue we have articles on the monitoring of CO2 during EOR and storage projects from the University of Calgary, the possibilities of implementing MEOR in Danish chalk reservoirs from Aalborg University Esbjerg, and developments in downhole gas compression from Corac. From BGS we have an article on the industrial application of research results from the ocean margins LINK programme and from Senergy a summary of the latest news on CO2 EOR and storage in the UK.

The ‘Talking Point’ is kindly contributed by Euan Mearns, editor of ‘The Oil Drum’ website, on the architecture of UK offshore oil production in relation to future production forecasts.  Accurate forecasting is important at a time when the UK is beginning to loose its self sufficiency in oil.  Please provide your thoughts on this by using the feedback box at the end of the article.

We also have news on the latest initiatives from the public sector funding bodies (ITF, NERC, EPSRC) and reports on recent EOR and CO2 conferences.  Under ‘People and Projects’ there is a review of Al Gore’s documentary on climate change ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.

We welcome your views on any of the articles - please submit your feedback using the box provided. For matters not directly related to any individual article use the feedback box at the bottom of this Editorial.
