EVIDENCE FOR SUCCESS - A NEW BP DVD |
|||||
|
David Puckett, BP Network Leader for Improved Recovery Process informs us that BP will shortly release a new DVD illustrating demonstrable field evidence for increased recovery from the Prudhoe Bay Miscible Gas Project. Many decision makers feel unsure about the benefits of hydrocarbon miscible gas injection because the benefits have historically been based on laboratory coreflood results and simulation predictions. At Prudhoe Bay a number of leading edge techniques have been evolved and implemented in the field to ascertain, with every greater accuracy and detail, the performance of this 500 mmstb reserves project. Whilst much of this has already been published in technical papers it has never been told as a full story before. This program aims to give the viewer an insight into the techniques used and issues tackled over a period of 15 years. At Prudhoe Bay over 8 billion cubic feet of produced gas is routinely refrigerated down to -40F every day. This removes the heavier components allowing some to be exported with the oil whilst others are blended into some of the remaining lean gas at the Central Gas Facility, to make around 400mscf/d of miscible hydrocarbon gas. The CGF has the ability to make a range of gas compositions through time to suit the changing temperature and pressures of the areas under flood. The miscible gas is re-injected into inverted 9 spot patterns around the edge of the field whilst the remaining lean gas is re-injected into the gas cap to provide additional oil recovery from vaporisation and gravity drainage processes. The DVD includes: Chapter 1 : Introduction Copies of the "Evidence for Success" DVD can be ordered by sending an email to Jeane Drewett, via drewetj@bp.com. |
