Many of the more viscous (heavy) oil reservoirs discovered on the UKCS are as yet undeveloped. The DTI has been working with Industry to address this problem. This seminar is designed to disseminate the information obtained in the sub-surface, facilities and marketing areas from studies commissioned by the DTI with a contribution also from one major operator. The seminar is intended as a forum for delegates from operating companies who have undeveloped heavy oil accumulations, holders of recently awarded "Promote" licences relating to heavy oil accumulations, and the service and academic sectors.

Speakers are from DTI, ChevronTexaco, Reservoir Management, Genesis, and MW Kellogg with a welcome by Simon Toole, Director, DTI Licensing and Consents Unit.

As an introduction to the seminar an optional Master Class on Heavy Oil Recovery in the context of the UKCS, given by Nigel Brealey of Senergy Ltd, is being held on the afternoon of 28 April 2004 .
