LCU-LED

Issue 8, May 2004

LCU-LED is the DTI Licensing and Consents Unit - Licensing Exploration and Development Branch. Tissa Jayasekera OBE (tissa.jayasekera@dti.gsi.gov.uk) from LCU-LED is Manager of the SHARP programme.

The Advisory Committee for Hydrocarbons Additional Recovery Research (ACHARR) met on 27 May 2004. ACHARR advises DTI LCU-LED on the funding policy with regard to JIPs that seek funding through the SHARP programme. The meeting was primarily to evaluate the JIP proposals that were received in response to our recent call for proposals. The final decision on proposals that have been successful has not been taken yet, and as such regrettably they cannot be listed here.

A review of the performance of IOR Views over the past three years was also on the agenda of the ACHARR meeting. Several options for further improving it were discussed, and a recommendation paper with forward plans for the coming years will be produced within two months.

The definitive programme for the DTI Seminar on Maximising Hydrocarbons from the UKCS 2004, to be held on 22-23 June 2004, in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre is now ready. For details and online registration see http://events.senergyltd.com/event.asp?event=3 .

A major change in the Seminar format from previous years is the thematic approach, and participation by all stakeholders – presentations by academia, industry and DTI, followed by panel discussions. The panel discussions will aim to identify technology needs and define the way forward. All this will be documented in a technical report that will be provided to all registrants shortly afterwards.
